We are going through the difficult process of sorting and dispersing household items from my parents home. I found a manila envelope with my name on it in my Mom's closet. Because I had a long list of other things to do while I was there, I saved examining the contents until I got home. The treasure I found inside you can read here. I'm so thankful that I shared this with my mother because I don't think I have it written anywhere else. The years fly my friends, capture it in words, if you can. I love you and am whispering more prayers for you than you will ever know.
The Interrupties
Thoughts of a mother of young children
From the early morning hours my sleep is broken
By a little precious child who's just awoken
When just slipping back to the dreamy stage
That crazy alarm goes off in quite a rage.
It's another one of those days--bright and sunny.
Gotta hurry now, or it won't be funny.
Eggs and ham on my husband's plate
Quick, wake up Shane or he'll be late.
"Good morning Mom" Joel hollers from his bed
Courteney walks sleepily holding his head.
"Get my breakfast, change my clothes,
Hurry come quick and blow my nose."
As the day progresses I think I'll get something done,
But before I get dressed the realtor's come.
I start to give Tyler his bath, but before I'm through,
Joel spills his milk, now what should I do?
Things once again get settle down and the mess is cleared away
Tyler gets his cereal, but the phone, a reporter did she say?
"Steve? He's not home, at noon? Maybe."
I'll be taking lunch to the field--she'd like to come, could she?!
A snooze for Tyler, Mom starts on the lawn
Oh no! Now where has that silly dog gone?
There's trash on the yard, the dog's in the field,
When will all these efforts bring forth a yield?
"What have I done today?" I often ask myself
Changing, feeding and potty training--the rest goes on the shelf.
Sand's on the floor, there's footprints on the door
Those dishes still in the sink--oh what a chore!
The day's at an end with the laundry on the couch
It's no wonder I'm always such a grouch!
The rug hasn't been vacuumed for weeks I could guess.
Courteney said, "Can I dust?"--I gladly answered YES!
These times, they keep me busy
Seems I'm always in a tizzy!
But when these days are said and done
I'll convince myself it was all such fun!

ReplyDeletefunny! I have one to add. I was at a children's museum in Rockford, Il a few days ago and I got a call on my phone from DHS. I quickly left the noisy section and went to find a quiet place to take the call. I went in this room of mirrors and was pacing around while on the phone. this room of mirrors showed EVERY angle and I was horrified! After my phone call, I stayed in there a bit to drink in the horror to remind myself to stop eating!
