The caged bird of the Stieglitz household was found dead on the kitchen floor early this morning. This pet parakeet, otherwise known as Keet has been the long time pet of our family for about ten years. Her mate Perry proceeded her in death more than eight years ago. To say that Keet was caged is not to say that she was confined. After learning that when Keet's caretakers failed to feed her she would make her way out through the bars and play with the toy tractors outside of her cage, we no longer closed her door, but let her come and go freely. Keet's exact age is not know to us. We brought the pair of song birds home from Bluffton one evening after learning that their caretakers desired to find a new home for them. Our benefactors were taking care of the bids for their daughter who could no longer house them. Some of the younger male members of our family sought Keet's demise years ago, but love for her prevailed. We will miss Keet.
